Dr. Anthony Alfieri is one of the kindest and professional doctors I have ever visited. He explained my procedure and walked me through it step-by-step. I instantly felt comfortable and relaxed when he entered the exam room. It was my first session of schlerotherapy and it won’t be my last. I’m so excited to see my results. I can’t wait to see my summertime ready “Alfieri Legs”!!

Having had multiple procedures including major surgery for varicose veins over the past 25 years, I thought there was nothing more that could be done for the recurrence of my condition. Then I found Dr. Alfieri, who gave me hope. After the ultrasound confirmed that treatment was an option, the succeeding course of therapy proved that my condition indeed could be successfully treated- I’m so grateful for the support of Delaware Advanced Vein Center and Dr. Alfieri’s expertise!
For everyone in need of a cardiologist/vein specialist, I highly recommend Dr.Anthony Alfieri. He listened to me and explained my illness, what needed to be done, all the while making me feel at ease. Dr. Alfieri and his team are the best. I couldn’t have chosen a better physician to take care of my heart and vein issues. I really appreciate him and his staff. That being said, if anyone is in need of a Cardiologist/Vein Restoration specialist, I recommend him. Just know you will be in good hands. He really takes care of you and makes you feel like you are his only patient.
Board-Certified Cardiologist & Delaware’s Leading Vein Specialist
Dr. Alfieri spent 25 years as an interventional cardiologist before founding Delaware Advanced Vein Center in 2008 — because he kept watching his own cardiac patients suffer from vein disease that wasn’t being treated at the vascular level.
That background sets him apart. While most vein providers treat what they can see, Dr. Alfieri looks deeper — identifying the circulatory cause behind your leg pain, heaviness, or visible veins before building a treatment plan.
Today, Delaware Advanced Vein Center is the largest vein center in the state, with 3 locations and most major insurance accepted.

Yes, varicose vein treatment is often covered by insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid, when it’s considered medically necessary. Spider vein treatment is typically not covered.
Modern varicose vein treatments are designed to be as comfortable as possible. Most procedures are minimally invasive and performed with local anesthesia, which means you should feel little to no pain during treatment. Afterward, you may experience mild tenderness, bruising, or tightness for a few days, but these symptoms are typically temporary and manageable with over-the-counter pain medication if needed. Most patients are able to walk immediately after treatment and return to their normal routine within 24 to 48 hours.
Most varicose vein treatments take 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size and number of veins being treated. Because these procedures are minimally invasive and performed in the office, most patients can walk immediately afterward and return to work and other normal daily activities the same day or the next. Your provider will let you know if you should avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for a short period during recovery.
If you have visible varicose veins, leg pain, swelling, heaviness, aching, cramping, or fatigue that gets worse after standing for long periods, you may be a good candidate for treatment. The best way to know for sure is to schedule a consultation. During your visit, our vein specialist will evaluate your symptoms, review your medical history, and may perform an ultrasound to determine the underlying cause of your vein disease and recommend the most effective treatment for you.
Don’t let leg discomfort, swelling, or fatigue control your days any longer.
With the right vein treatment, Dr. Alfieri will help you move comfortably again, sit without pain, and support your long-term vascular health.
Relief starts with your first appointment.
